Account Executive

Introduction

Systrends delivers market-leading regulatory compliance software to the U.S. energy industry. Our core products enable the preparation and transmission of mandatory compliance filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Today, hundreds of the nation’s largest energy companies—including grid operators, utilities, pipelines, and law practices—trust our suite of solutions to perform mission-critical FERC reporting.
With that said, we’re only just getting started. With near-term regulatory catalysts on the horizon and secular tailwinds driving modernization in energy data standards, we are well positioned to take advantage of our existing relationships and reputation to build the preeminent energy compliance software provider. Preparing to take the company to new heights in 2025, we recently brought on a CEO that led the energy practice of a Fortune 500 reporting and compliance software company. We are now looking for a hungry and ambitious Account Executive to partner with the CEO to accelerate growth.
As the lead Account Executive on our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the go-to-market approach, establishing a consistent outreach engine, and driving tangible growth for Systrends. You will collaborate with the entire team to develop deep product and industry knowledge. Working closely with the CEO, you will then be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, leading in-depth product discussions with prospects, nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, and closing deals.

Responsibilities

Build and manage a robust sales pipeline by researching prospects, conducting consistent outreach, and developing trusted relationships with key stakeholders in the energy industry

Own large enterprise accounts across utilities, pipelines, and law firms and develop account plans for winning and expanding business

Lead in-depth product demonstrations and workshops

Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing to go-live

Establish pricing and lead contract negotiations to close deals that maximize value for both the customer and Systrends

Partner with the CEO, product, and customer success to ensure alignment on market needs, messaging, and client onboarding

Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to guide company strategy and product development

Define and implement scalable processes, metrics, and tools to measure and optimize sales performance as the organization grows

Attend industry conferences and events to generate leads and strengthen our brand presence

Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team, providing insights on customer needs, sales strategies, and market opportunities

Who You Are
You are an adept salesperson with the ability to navigate both business-level and technical discussions across all organizational tiers, from the C-Suite and Vice Presidents to Managers and Analysts. Your deep understanding of the buyer’s journey enables you to successfully manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales in a consultative manner. You enjoy selling products that demand deep product understanding, combined with industry knowledge. You are naturally curious and enjoy finding unique ways to build relationships. You get excited about prospecting and are capable of independently leading a sales cycle from start to finish. Finally, you are a team player, using the long-term, sustainable growth of the company as your guiding true north for all company decisions.

Requirements
​​

3+ years of sales experience at a technology company and a track record of top performance

Owning a direct sales quota, with direct sales experience closing new business and/or expansion of existing users

A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners

The ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment

A proven ability to be a self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision
-
An enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Strong presentation skills, particularly for in-person meetings with multiple stakeholders
-
Proven ability to lead complex negotiations involving bespoke commercial agreements
-
Ability to understand complex technical requirements and craft solutions across multiple stakeholders
-
Knowledge of U.S. regulated energy industry and public sector procurement is desirable

Location & Travel
​
This role is hybrid in Tempe, AZ. You will be expected to spend roughly 50% of the time in the office. This strikes a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration, while supporting flexibility in a way that makes sense for our team. You must also be willing to travel as needed to attend conferences and client meetings.
